Yes, they renamed it since Steve Earle is no longer running the event, but whatever, it's still the Monterey Historics.

I don't have time to do anything fancy this year since I am traveling so much so I used my webpages from last year and just added a new paypal button for ordering. Pricing is slightly different this year as they lowered all tickets by $10, but then charge $10 for each corral parking pass(per day I believe). That said, to make ordering easier for ME(via paypal) I am charging the $10 corral parking pass fee for EACH ticket. That said, if you are coming 2 or more to a car please note that in your payment to me and I will refund you the $10 or $20 or whatever for the other passes that you do NOT need.

This will make it a bit more challenging for the late comers that already bought tickets or are last minute decision makers as I may not have any extra passes available for them unless I pay for them in advance and hope I can sell them.

If you cannot or prefer NOT to use PayPal then please send me a postal money order. They are cheap(under a buck I believe) and I can cash them at the PO and not have to worry about verifying the funds clear a week later. If you want to send me a Postal Money Order please shoot me an email to: mhagerla at cisco dot com and I will send you my address so you can send me a postal money order. I have had issues with my comcast email the past few months so I will be using my work email for now.

Also, Mazda is again helping us out bigtime with the trackside tent/table/chairs and free breakfast and lunch. More details in the next week or so - again, Tarpy's is providing the sandwiches and salads.

CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE TICKET ORDERING- first link in red font upper LEFT of the collage.

Here is the pricing that they sent me FYI - ie, please do not try to print it out , this is just for your info.

...with a socialist imposed sound limit, and draconian enforcement. I have more faith in personally winning the Presidency then ever getting even one of my cars to pass the sound limit. Oh well, have fun to all who go.

LOL, no sound limit for these races - there are always plenty of 110db racecars at the historics

There are so many friggin events during the entire week prior to the historics and during the historics that it is pretty much a car fanatics paradise. I plan on doing something different this year as I got a tip from a friend of Ivica's(alpinaturbo) today. Thursday Debbie and I will be hanging out around Carmel by they sea so she can shop and I can gawk at the concours cars that are entered into the Concours D'elegance @ Pebble Beach. Best way to view the cars without the $175 ticket price and mandatory attire. Then gonna hit the Baja Cantina, which is apparently a huge party for car nuts as a lot of the Concours cars head over there in the afternoon.

Friday I will be @ the track if I can get a press pass, if not we will hang out in Carmel again, maybe hit the beach if the weather is nice, then over to the Pacific grove auto ralley, another great place to see some bitchin cars for free before heading off on a nice cruise around 17mile drive and through carmel with police blocking off all the minivans from cutting in

Saturday races - free food, drinks, nice trackside tent, great parking, good people, good times :belch:

So what exactly does a corral pass give you? A better parking spot?

Yes, and free breakfast, catered lunch from Tarpy's Roadhouse and a big trackside tent(ie, shade) right on the inside of turn 5(a great spot). Also, corral tickets are $10 cheaper than advanced ticket prices, so the $10 corral parking pass is basically free too...

Bump for an update: I ordered the tix and corral parking passes, so no more ticket discounts or parking passes are available anymore. We ended up getting about 27 tickets sold with another 4-5 folks coming that already had tickets or have press credentials. That said, ANYONE is welcome to come hang out in the corral and under the tent. Free food and drinks all day so if you make it down for the day on Saturday please stop by.

Same 20x20 tent ordered, 50 chairs, plenty of tables, placement will be the same place the Miata corral has always been - right on the inside of the Turn-5 exit(about 100 feet from when the cars start the long hill climb). It is a GREAT spot for spectating.

FREE BREAKFAST:
We will have Starbucks coffee, decaf and assorted teas w/hot water + juices, fruit and assorted bagels w/spreads and assorted breakfast danishes/muffins.

FREE LUNCH:
Tarpy's Roadhouse is supplying the sandwiches + salads. We will have plenty of drinks on ice.

Hope to see some of you guys there.

Debbie said the tix and corral parking passes arrived today. I am currently sitting inside a cool hotel room in Palm Springs, which is only about 112 degrees outside right now. I am heading home tomorrow so the tix/passes will go out on Monday.

I have to come back here next Thursday again. It cools off to about 88 degrees at night...

That said, I have not seen ONE, NOT ONE Miata, na, nb, or nc. I guess they drive them in the winter time since it averages low 80s, lol.

I received press credentials so I won't need my Saturday only ticket. It cost $55 and the parking pass cost $10. So, $65 for both and NO, I won't sell the parking pass until the ticket is sold.

That said, the Gate price for Saturday tickets is $70, so for $65 you get admission, FREE breakfast and Lunch and parking right next to the track, which by the way this year we moved our corral between the Ferrari corral and BMW corral, so we are now right next to the bridge in the braking zone of turn-5.

The parking pass is good for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, fwiw.

Note, the parking pass is Blue and there is no mention of which club is which, so... you don't need to show up in a Mazda to get good parking. You can show up in your Audi, Porsche, BMW or hell, if you have a Ferrari then you can park right next to our tent!

All, in case anyone decides to come down to the races and wants to join our corral and tent and food...

Elliot Shev arranged to pick up 15 additional corral parking passes on Thursday from Ryan @ LagunaSeca. If you would like to purchase an additional parking pass for a friend please contact Elliot. Price is $10 per parking pass and is good for the entire weekend. He is staying at the Embassy Suites, so you can pick them up Thursday night, Friday night or possibly Saturday morning if he can arrange to leave them in an envelope with the front desk.

Elliot's email address is eshev@cox.net

Feel free to cc me as well as I will be talking with Elliot throughout the week.

BTW, our corral is now located right between the douchebags and the jackasses, ie the BMW and Ferrari corrals, right next to the bridge.

I'm in Monterey already for the Pre-Historics.. we're along the fence near turn 3-4. Look for the huge tent with 15-20 cars in it and the semi with the checkered flag on the side. Can't promise I can chat much (depends on what's broken..) but feel free to stop by and say hi this weekend or next Thu-Sun.

Bill, I will come say hi. I am heading down in the am to pick up my photo vest for both events - they are giving us free admission and parking for the pre-historics too.

What time will breakfast be served? And do we need to pre-order the lunch? I didn't see anything in the packet about that. See y'all Saturday!

You must have missed the email where I explained that I decided not to take a tally of people's preferences because I didn't have the time. I ordered a few extras of each salad as compared to last year, so we should have plenty of food and hopefully everyone gets what they want. Plan on being there a bit before noon.

cya there!
Mike

BTW, the Prehistorics is definitely the best time to go watch the historics. Nearly all the same cars that run the Historics, with a HELL of a lot less people so it is easy to get good shots of cars in the paddock. Also a lot easier to take pictures trackside. I was surprised to only see about 20 people at the corkscrew Saturday afternoon, it was kind of bizarre...

Unfortunately I will only be able to attend Sunday. But will be there, visiting with friends and other drivers. :) I shall also be chauffeuring my mother around. It is one of the few events that she still gets to visit with all her friends. :D Kinda sad too though, more and more of the vintage drivers are disappearing. This will be the first year my father's car is not entered in the Historics, and will most likely never will again. As it is sitting in a small private collection in France now.

Thanks to Mike and Elliot for another successful corral at turn 5...Tent and food were great, as was the improved location this year...

I enjoyed the day out on Sat, (could only do one this year) and one day is just not enough to see all the cars at this amazing event...
