brand isnt that important. but if you want to look at it, try to avoid armorall and turtlewax. i've never found their products to be that good. Mothers and Meguires i find an acceptable and affordable offthesheft solution.

To keep them from being a problem in the future. I'd +1 the clay bar -> polish -> wax recommendation to start with.
